Relational Integrative Parts Therapy (RIPT)
A compassionate, attachment-informed approach to working with parts, introjects, and fear-based energies
Relational Integrative Parts Therapy (RIPT) is a contemporary parts therapy modality born from decades of clinical experience working with complex trauma, dissociation, and the deeper layers of the human psyche. Warm, structured, and profoundly compassionate, RIPT offers clinicians a rich and integrative framework for understanding and working with the internal world, honouring the intelligence of every part of the self and the protective purpose each one carries.
At its heart, RIPT is a relational modality. Healing does not happen in isolation - it happens in connection. RIPT recognises that the therapeutic relationship itself is a primary vehicle for change, and that how we show up with our clients; with curiosity, attunement, and deep respect, shapes everything that becomes possible within the work.
How RIPT Works
We all carry an internal world populated by different aspects of self - parts that developed in response to our earliest experiences of connection, threat, and survival. Some parts are fiercely protective. Others carry pain, grief, or shame that has never had a safe place to land. Some exist at the very edges of awareness, holding fragments of experience too overwhelming to integrate. And some arrive not from our own personal history, but from the relational, ancestral, and intergenerational fields we have been shaped by.
Grounded in attachment theory, somatic awareness, relational neuroscience, transpersonal and spiritual frameworks, and the deep wisdom of Indigenous ways of knowing, RIPT supports clients to build a compassionate and curious relationship with their internal parts system, understand the protective function and history of each part, work gently with wounded and highly vulnerable parts, resolve internal conflict, and foster collaboration and harmony within the system. RIPT also offers a clinically rigorous and spiritually sensitive framework for working with introjects (internalised presences from significant others) and fear-based energies and entities, supporting each toward resolution with care and respect.
Honouring Indigenous Wisdom
RIPT is shaped by a deep respect for Indigenous wisdom traditions and their understanding of the interconnected nature of self, community, land, and spirit. Indigenous frameworks have long held what Western psychology is only beginning to recognise - that healing is not an individual process, but a collective and relational one; that the boundaries between self and other, past and present, personal and ancestral, are far more permeable than our modern frameworks have allowed. This wisdom is woven throughout RIPT's understanding of parts, intergenerational trauma, ancestral healing, and the spiritual dimensions of the internal world. RIPT is committed to holding this knowledge with humility, reverence, and an ongoing commitment to decolonising therapeutic practice.
A Standalone Modality
While RIPT forms the foundational parts work framework woven throughout RI-EMDR, it stands powerfully in its own right as a complete and clinically robust standalone modality. RIPT can be used as a primary therapeutic approach across a wide range of presentations; including complex trauma, dissociative presentations, attachment wounding, grief, spiritual emergency, and intergenerational trauma, making it a genuinely versatile and depth-oriented addition to any clinical practice.
An Attachment-Informed, Compassionate Approach
RIPT is grounded in the understanding that many of our deepest wounds are relational in origin — and that healing, therefore, must also be relational in nature. An attachment-informed lens runs throughout the entire approach, shaping how we understand parts, how we work with introjects, and how we hold the therapeutic relationship as a living, healing instrument. No part is approached with pathology or judgment. Every aspect of the internal world (however defended, frightened, or unfamiliar) is met with the same quality of compassionate curiosity. This is not simply a therapeutic technique. It is a philosophy of care.
Training in RIPT
RIPT training is offered through Seva Training at both Foundation and Advanced levels. Our Foundation training is delivered across three immersive days, experientially rich and clinically grounded, designed to support therapists to integrate RIPT not just as a set of skills, but as a way of being with clients that transforms practice from the inside out. Whether you are new to parts work or deepening an existing foundation, RIPT training offers a genuinely distinctive and nourishing learning experience within a warm and supportive community of practitioners.
RIPT is a modality of Seva Training, developed within The Seva Collective.
